How Can I Keep My Costs Down?

1. Don’t make your attorney justify every decision: While we are always happy to explain anything you don’t understand, remember our time costs you money. The point is not for you to acquire a law school education. The point is for you to accomplish your goals in an efficient and timely manner. If you can’t trust your lawyer’s advice, maybe it is time for you to get a new lawyer.
2. Participate. Participate. Participate: Any information that you can give us is information that you do not have to pay us to obtain. In other words, in most cases, it is cheaper for you to get the information for us rather than paying us to get the information from someone else. Once you have gathered the documents, put them in a folder and deliver them to us in as complete and organized a manner possible.

3. Be prompt: Courts are slow. Litigation takes time. There are, however, numerous deadlines that must be met. The faster you are in responding to our requests for information, the more likely it is that you will be able to settle your case sooner and at less expense. More importantly, by acting quickly you will allow us to take charge of the process and assume a proactive rather than reactive approach to your case.
